TOP 5 RELL COUNTERS SUPP
How to Counter Rell Support
Rell is a tank engage support built for hard lockdown and AoE disruption. With her signature combo — W (Ferromancy: Crash Down) into Q (Shattering Strike) and E (Attract and Repel) — she excels at diving the backline and locking down multiple targets. Her R (Magnet Storm) can turn fights instantly if she gets a good engage off.
But Rell is extremely telegraphed, immobile after engage, and very dependent on team follow-up. If her combo is disrupted or her engage fails, she becomes a sitting duck with little peel, little damage, and long cooldowns. The key to beating Rell is disengage, poke, or lane denial.
The top 5 counters to Rell support in Patch 15.10 are: Janna, Morgana, Renata Glasc, Zyra, and Lulu. These champions excel at interrupting or punishing her engages, and they create huge lane control advantages that Rell cannot handle without an early lead.
Top 5 Rell Support Counters
1. Janna
- Playstyle: Disengage enchanter / anti-dive
-
Strengths:
- Q (Howling Gale) interrupts her W engage mid-air.
- R (Monsoon) knocks her away mid-R and completely resets fights.
- Outranges and outsustains in lane.
Play Tips:
- Hold Q for her W or Flash-W engage — don’t waste it on poke.
- Once she goes in, disengage immediately with R or Q to isolate her.
- Pair with poke ADCs to force her into desperate, losing engages.
2. Morgana
- Playstyle: Anti-CC utility / root control
-
Strengths:
- E (Black Shield) removes the stun from her E tether.
- Q (Dark Binding) punishes any misposition — long root makes Rell irrelevant.
- Can farm lane from safety while denying her initiation.
Play Tips:
- Use Black Shield reactively — you don’t need to pre-cast vs Rell’s slow W.
- After she W’s in, Q her instantly — she’s stuck and vulnerable for follow-up.
- If she builds lockets/tanks, Morgana’s damage still chunks in lane.
3. Renata Glasc
- Playstyle: Anti-dive support / reset enabler
-
Strengths:
- W (Bailout) denies burst kills from her combo.
- R (Hostile Takeover) turns her engage into a team-killing misfire.
- Zones her off lane control with strong wave presence.
Play Tips:
- Position wide — Rell wants to hit both bot laners with E or R.
- Time R during her W or R channel — it forces her ADC to back off or grief.
- Use W to revive your carry if she lands her combo — trade is instantly flipped.
4. Zyra
- Playstyle: Lane bully mage / disengage zoning
-
Strengths:
- Plants zone her off minions and engages.
- E (Grasping Roots) locks her down after W — she has no escape.
- R (Stranglethorns) knocks her up mid-dive and punishes grouped fights.
Play Tips:
- Abuse her pre-3 levels — she can’t all-in without E or jungle help.
- Use plants as wards in lane — she can’t hide in bushes without taking damage.
- When she dives, E + R immediately to lock her down and turn.
5. Lulu
- Playstyle: Enchanter support / polymorph peel
-
Strengths:
- W (Whimsy) can cancel her engage or R if cast on time.
- E + shield protects your ADC from the worst part of her combo.
- R (Wild Growth) counters her engage and flips 2v2s post-6.
Play Tips:
- Keep W ready to polymorph her during W or mid-R cast.
- Shield poke damage, then punish with Q slows and kiting.
- Lulu + hypercarry like Jinx/Kog outscales Rell lanes easily.
Bonus Tips to Beat Rell:
- Punish cooldowns: Once Rell uses W, she’s locked in immobile armor form.
- Don’t stack: Her R wants you clumped. Spread out in lane and fights.
- Track Flash: Her only real kill threat comes from Flash-W. Ping timers and play back when it’s up.
